Colorpoint Class

Best In Class

PFG’s BWC’s Elyas “Ely”

Owner: Katie McQueen

CP-001

Colorpoint Agouti Male

Age: Two years old

Judges Comments:
Wow, this is a nice big, bulky male with a healthy appearance and lovely, almond-shaped, inquisitive eyes! His face is nicely shaped and well set into his body. (These photos would have been better on a slightly overcast day, because the bright sunlight washed out most of his coloring. I had to really look to see that he was the right color.) He’s a gorgeous, show-quality gerbil.

2nd Place

LW’s Avalanche

Owner: Shaina Newcomb

CP-005

DTW Male

Age: One year old

Judges Comments:
What a nice, big male! His fur is very clean and well-prepared for show. It doesn’t look from these photos like he carries his tail straight, and I wish that the photos had been taken at “gerbil-level” so I could better see his eyes, whiskers, and the shape of his face. Even so, his handsome build makes up for some of the problems with the photos.

3rd Place

BBB’s Beni

Owner: Anna Miller

CP-009

Siamese Male

Age: 13 weeks old

Judges Comments:
He has an extremely attractive set of points, especially if he’s as young as he looks. Visible, dark points on all four paws. His eyes are perfectly almond-shaped, and he has a lovely set of whiskers. His face is a little long but will likely fill out as he matures. It’s very rare for a male this young and small to place in a show. I hope to see him again when he’s matured!

Honorable Mention

ABC’s Spice

Owner: Donna Anastasi

CP-013

Colorpoint Nutmeg

Age: Two years old

Judges Comments:
From her build, this looks like an older female (perhaps 2 to 2.5 years old?). She has a lovely, short face that is well-set into her body and lovely almond-shaped eyes. In her face view, her ears look a little light, and she may be missing some fur from her nose. The coloring of the rest of her fur is nice, and her toenails are the proper color. Her tail appears to taper some. Despite being a little large for a female, she could have placed if not for the tapered tail and missing fur.

Candemat’s Pancho

Colorpoint Agouti Male

Age: 1.5 years old

Owner: Alejandra Chalar

Judges Comments:
This is a lovely gerbil who will do better in show with a little more bulk. (Males should have a heftier chest and a larger overall build than females.) He has nicely-shaped ears and almond-shaped eyes. A nice line of demarcation between his top fur and his white belly, too. Looks like his tail tapers in the center.

SStar’s Elara

Colorpoint Nutmeg Female

Age: 3.5 months old

Owner: Danielle Cromer

Judges Comments:
This gerbil looks quite young. Despite her young age, her ear points are quite striking. Unfortunately, she has a strong molt line. Her eyes are beautiful. Keep an eye open for “neck dips.” (She may have a slight one.) A colorpoint nutmeg’s toenails should be brown, but hers lack pigment. (I suspect she may be a CP Silver Nutmeg, but that is not a recognized color in show.) She’s off to a lovely start, and I’d love to see her when she’s older!

HsR’s Zzzz

Siamese Male

Age: Six months old

Owner: Lydia Duke

Judges Comments:
What lovely, dark points this little boy has on his ears and tail! I wish his side view had not been an in-motion photo so I could better guage his tail length and the shape of his face and body. Would like to see this boy again after he’s matured and bulked up some.

Rupurt

Burmese Male

Age: Three years old

Owner: Laura Kincaide

Judges Comments:
This is a nice, big male. If his side-view photo had been on all fours, I would be better able to judge his body shape and overall build. His eyes might be a little small, but they are bright and healthy-looking. His coloring is lovely in his face shot, but it’s hard to judge in the side view due to the lighting. His whiskers could be darker (should match the color of his points), and he has white strips across his paws and under his nose. (This isn’t at all uncommon in self and colorpoint gerbils.) I really like his dark coloring on his nose. It’s very attractive.

Mb’s Brash

Colorpoint Grey Agouti Male

Age: One year old

Owner: Michelle Inman

Judges Comments:
This male has nicely shaped ears and a nice, thick tail. His fur seems to have an orange tint to it, but it may be due to the lighting. He would do better if I could better judge his coloring. His feet and nails are the proper color, and he has a lovely set of whiskers. His eyes appear a bit small. I would like to see him again after he’s matured a bit more. He’s well on his way.

DDG’s Chocolate

CP Slate Female

Age: 11 months old

Owner: Theannah Hannon

Judges Comments:
This gerbil has very pleasing points on her tail, ears, nose, and hind feet. (Her front paws seem a little light.) It’s hard to judge her overall body shape and build from these photos, but it looks like she has a dip in her neck. Her tail tapers some. I really like her dark nose, and she has a nice set of whiskers.

Knolls’ Guthrie Springfield Block

Siamese Male

Age: 1 year old

Owner: Judith & Stuart Block

Judges Comments:
Oh my, what a happy and spoiled gerbil this seems to be! He has bright eyes and an inquisitive face and fantastic, full whiskers. He would do better in this show if his ears, paws, and front toenails were darker. (This could be due to the camera flash.) I’d like to see a photo of him on all fours to better judge his body shape. He looks like a very happy gerbil!
